The picture of the Mahonia is printed by ink jet onto 400gm white Ivory Board with the trade name of "Pacesetter". This is a good quality white board, manufactured for non-coated litho printing. Results using inkjet printing are muted, and small flecks of chalk and paper-making materials are less absorbent than adjacent fibres, giving some pin-prick sized white spots.
The advantage of printing in this way is that small runs can be made at modest cost. The penalty is a lack of saturation and a restricted colour gamut.
The sample size is 106.5x150mm (appx 4"x6").
The writing, shown here on the face of the card, is on the reverse of the sample card, and is in a tint of 50% black, in the Franklin Gothic Heavy italic typeface. The refernece line is printed blue in Technical typeface.
The image is copyright 2005 High View Pictures, taken digitally, with subsequent minor adjustments in PhotoShop. It is surrounded by a 0.5mm border at 50% black tint.
